Doug Loch

Born into a family of church organists, for Doug Loch the dancefloor is the place of worship. From his formative years as a classical pianist and guitarist, he found his tribe at Manchester’s Haçienda, shaping a sound that sits at the intersection of musical composition and dancefloor movement, reflecting his mantra: equal emphasis on melody and rhythm.

After a distinguished 30 year career as an international finance lawyer, Doug returned to music with renewed focus in 2023, approaching production and DJing with the precision and intent that defined his professional life. He founded People Like Us, a Sydney label and event series with a communityfocus, for dedicated music lovers seeking musicality, depth and connection. What began as a platform for his own productions has rapidly grown into a respected underground brand and community, hosting events that reflect his equal emphasis philosophy.

Doug Loch operates in the melodic reaches of progressive house. His background as a musician provides a strong melodic core, drawing on classical techniques, while decades as a raver and DJ ensure a solid focus on groove. That same background is now driving the development of a hybrid live set, extending his original productions beyond the DJ booth.

Doug performed at the UK's GIVE festival in 2024 and 2025, and at ADE in 2025. He hosts a monthly People Like Us radio show on Data Transmission UK and currently has a remix for UK label Prognosis out.
