Gilsun

A longtime feature of Sydney bass culture and no stranger to Subsonic, Gilsun has made a name for himself as a versatile and engaging performer. First appearing as part of the early dubstep scene, Gilsun has long since pushed his sound into the realms of breaks, wonky techno, grime, dub, and all things bass music. This has seen him involved every step of the way in helping push forward thinking bass music in Sydney over the last decade and a half, performing regularly in clubs and warehouses and alongside acts such as Peverelist, Addison Groove, Batu, Zed Bias, Kode 9, Deadbeat and more.

Also known via his House and Techno alias Oscar Mike, and through his productions for reggae/dancehall act Iron Gate Sound, Gilsun’s Djing draws from a wide range of experience both on digital formats and from a sprawling vinyl collection. His productions released on Extra Spicy and his own label Iron Gate Records, have hit top 50 lists for both Beatport and Junodownload as well as playlist on FBi radio, thanks to their unique meld of breaks, bass and percussion, combined with nods to rave, and always wrapped up together with a UK Bass sensibility.

Known for his quick mixing and love of a good blend, Gilsun combines all aspects of bassculture both new and old into every set, a trait that has earned him a reputation as a flexible DJ that always delivers whether it be to satisfy cerebral club settings or fuel high octane festival dancefloors.
