Abi Muir – “A Tropical Breeze in the Music World”
With a voice that transcends genre and lyrics that strike the soul, Abi Muir is an Australian indie-pop artist and award-winning songwriter who crafts emotionally rich songs from personal truths. Described as “a tropical breeze in the music world, refreshing soothing and utterly enjoyable to listen to”, her music blends poetic storytelling with polished production, taking listeners on the journey of an empath through love, loss, growth, and self-discovery.
Abi’s talent has earned her national and international acclaim. She is a Grand Prize winner in the John Lennon Songwriting Contest and a John Lennon Award winner in the Rock Category - the only Australian to claim it in this category. Her work has also been recognized by the UK Songwriting Contest, Unsigned Only, Queensland Music Awards, and the International Songwriting Competition, where she’s placed as a finalist and semi-finalist multiple times.
Her original song Blueprint became a standout hit in 2024, spending two weeks at No. 1 and becoming the longest-running Top 10 song on the All Aussie Breakfast radio chart. With over 700,000 Spotify streams, 8,000+ playlist adds, and listeners in 89 countries, Abi’s reach continues to grow. She connects deeply with fans across platforms, with thousands of followers on Instagram, TikTok, and YouTube.
On stage, with her goosebump-inducing vocals, Abi’s sound is magnetic. Her key live performances include opening for Dami Im and Drax Project at the Tanks Arts Centre, and festival appearances at Cairns Festival, Agnes Blues Roots & Rock Discovery Stage, Tablelands Folk Festival and the Tropic Trails. She’s also performed internationally, taking the stage at Exit/Inn Nashville as a finalist in the Road to Nashville Songwriting Contest.
Abi released her debut EP with support from a RADF Major Round grant, collaborating with musicians David D’Amore, Peter Bullis, and Kyle Rohan. The single Stockholm from that project received the John Lennon Award, and the EP live performance won the Cairns Passport to Airlie competition. Recent collaborations include work with Tokyo-based producer Ghostpops and industry veteran Bob MacKenzie at Real World Studios.
At the heart of Abi’s music is vulnerability and purpose. Her song I Forgot About Me - a finalist in the Road to Nashville contest - has become an anthem of self-love and healing. It was featured in the contest’s #BeKind campaign, which advocates for mental health in the music industry. In line with her values, Abi performs regularly at the Cairns Relay for Life, supporting the Queensland Cancer Council for the past four years.
Abi Muir is not just a voice or a name, she’s a force in the new wave of conscious, emotionally driven pop music. As her story unfolds, one lyric at a time, she invites the world to listen, feel, and grow with her.
A message from Abi
“I’m a total pop princess who grew up loving Bieber & Ariana. My cousin was killed at the Manchester Ari concert, & I thought I’d never recover. But seeing the same concert in Brisbane, our last shared experience, made me determined to follow my dream & I’m turning that passion into powerful pop anthems of resilience, love & finding light in the darkest moments”.
