Subsonic Music - AU
Every DJ Bio starts out with a backstory to how their name came about. In the story of MSG, it was an enjoyable dinner with friends and laughs. Talk of flavoursome additions, turned to talk of music and thus ‘MSG’ was born. It may have been an irreverent night, but the name stuck and his music always remains on point, mixing well with beef, chicken, vegetables and also techno & house. MSG can easily substitute to improve the overall taste of many foods, sounds and events.
An experienced player whose versatility sees him deliver anything from deep house and dubby-tech grooves through to complex progressive bangers. MSG has cultivated his diversity in sound through his many years experiencing music, enjoying his formative years going out in the booming club and warehouse culture of the Sydney Music scene in the early nineties.
Inspired by the sounds and the parties around him, he first turned to the decks in 1996 and continues to grow his musical repertoire as evidenced by his A&R for his label, Subsonic Music and in the curation of the world’s best International and local acts for Subsonic Music Festival, which he is the founder and Director of. The festival is the crown jewel of Sydney’s boutique and destination festival calendar, as well as hosting regular sold-out parties through the calendar year.
Outside of his successful Subsonic Music brand, MSG is often found playing at some of the biggest club nights in Australia, with appearances at Sydney institutions like SASH, Something Else, and Spice, and regularly heading to Melbourne to lay the magic down south. He is a fixture at some of the largest annual festivals in Australia; Rainbow Serpent, Earth Frequency, Splendour in The Grass, Playground Weekender, Psyfari and Peats Ridge. Appearances with some of the world’s biggest names including Michael Mayer, Jamie Jones, Mike Huckaby, Move D (and many more) is another nod in the direction to his diversity and ability to weave an exciting dancefloor experience that knows no limitations in sound or style. Undoubtedly, MSG remains a taste-maker in all regards.
